In memory of my friend FELIX

Dear Friends,

I would like to dedicate this post to my special whippet friend FELIX  (looking straight down the lens here) who left our world on Saturday 5 February to  play in Heaven with lots of our family and friends who had arrived there before hand.

Felix lives on in our hearts - particularly his loving owners Indre, Paul, Aliya and Jayden. 

Thank you for making me so welcome in your home when we met.  Thank you for playing with me and sharing time with me.

MY cow hoof

Hello Friends,

Hope you are keeping safe and sound.  I have been hard at it as my story below will tell you.

On my first trip to the local ‘adorable household pet’ SHOP for a shopping spree!

Firstly I needed a ‘Dougie Dinner Bowl’ exclusively for me.  Success came quickly in the choice. 

Secondly, and equally importantly, I needed a bed – well, why stop at one when you can have TWO!  The kind lady at the shop was curious to know “what décor do the beds have to match”? My Mum said  “let’s match the bed to the ‘designer’ dog!”  I came home with two puppy futons –one for my ‘day house’ and one for my secret night-time location, this one is KING sized for a big fella like me!  I LOVE THEM… 

We also bought some liver treats! You little beauty!!! Of course we needed a pouch for the treats and why not a couple of water bowls? My Dad and I love a drink!!!

Finally but by no means least! A magnificent cow’s hoof!! This according to everyone was very well deserved, as I had been such a good boy!

On arriving home the cows hoof was taken straight to the backyard and buried. This may seem selfish, but there are some things that are really best not shared! How self indulgent!!!

Seven weeks passed and I was feeling a bit selfish, why should I have all the fun? It was then that I decided dirt and all, Mum and Dad deserved their time with my cow’s hoof! They were thrilled, so much so that they put it in a special spot, they call it “The Bloody Bin!”

Remember guys generousity begins at home. They love my hoof so much I just cant seem to find it.

My cow hoof WAS one of my favourite things!

I know what you are thinking and you are right!!!!  ADORABLE...   thank you...

As for my breeding lines I apparently Shi Tsu / Poodle combination, but my Mum reckons they are dreaming!

My Dad just knows I am total delight with a BIG DEEP growl which surprises even me sometimes.

Do any of you have any suggestions as to what I may be?  Even I am confused just check out my ears - and when I share a seated photo you will notice another unique trait I have...

My Dad says I have to get off the computer now (kill joy!) to go for a walk...

Did I just say walk!

My very first fashion shoot!!! I volunteered my services - not sure they were required but knew they needed me...

I am looking rather comfortable and somewhat natural here don't you think? 

This was a job my Mum was out doing last week end and I was her assistant for the shoot.

Going out shooting with Mum is one of my favourite things!

This new chapter of my life began on a Thursday - 9 December 2010

Hello Friends,


This is where it all began!

I was sitting quietly in my digs at the Lort Smith Animal Hospital and in came some people.  One of them had a big camera in his hands and took a few photos of some of my Lort Smith room buddies.  After a few minutes a lady walked in and straight past my section to admire all the dogs visiting.

Before long she came back to pat all of us and my door opened.  It was then she picked me up and did everything in her power to make me look at her!

See, the thing is I had a special collar on at the time to prevent me licking where my recent "doctoring" operation had left me with some stitches. (I was smarter than my minders though because I could still reach them)  It was difficult for me to make eye contact with this human because of this collar - so I didn't.

Just when I thought "good I'm on the ground again - see you later", she called my name (how did she know it) and I automatically ran up and wagged my tail and looked her in the eyes with some excitement.  This lady is now my Mum.

I could tell it was love at  first sight for her! Humans are so predictable!!!

Ooh, gotta go right now.  Time for a nap then my afternoon walk!

It's all about ME

Hello again Friends,

Just popped up the photo my adoption agents posted online about me!  If you would like to get an idea of my personality the blue writing says it nicely.

It has been an interesting start to 2011 for me in my new family!  They are totally besotted and take me everywhere with them.

When I have a true chance to share some stories with you I will.

In the meantime, it is very fortunate we came home from Brisbane when we did as there is so much natural craziness going on up there with the floods.  I send all my love to all of my fellow "adored household pet" friends and their families - wishing you all safety and peace.

For those who have been impacted by the rushing waters - my heart, thoughts and compassion are with you all!

For now I have to go again and will endeavour to become a more  productive blogger in the very near future.

My Story Begins

Hello Friends,

My name is Douglas Dance and I am really looking forward to sharing tails (or is that tales) with you!

Today is new year's day 2011 and I am waiting to take my second flight ever - back to Melbourne from Brisbane.

They have just made our boarding call so I will wish you a great few hours and I will  be in communication when we land.

Oh, it is really wet up here - and quite cool!  We are gearing up for it to be very hot when we get home.
